PETITION GUIDELINES

TO PASS PETITIONS you must be a registered voter.

TO SIGN PETITIONS you must be a registered Republican voter and reside in the political unit covered in the petition.

A VOTER CANNOT SIGN A PETITION if they have already signed a petition dealing with the same position (if a person passes a petition naming a candidate different from the one nominated by the party and a voter signs that petition, they should not sign ours

IMPORTANT INFORMATION ABOUT YOUR PETITIONS

1 . Everything on the petition must be written in ink.

2. Every signature must be dated correctly.

3. No ditto marks should appear on the petition.

4. Signers must sign his/her full name, personally, each on a seperate line, as they are registered at the Board of Elections and sign when they go to the polls (Signing Mr and Mrs Thomas L Jones one the same line is invalid as is Mrs Thomas L. Jones). They need not fill in the date, residence, or election district. As a witness, you may do that.

5. The person signing must do so in your presence, not while in another room.

6. Do not sign the STATEMENT OF WITNESS at the bottom of the petition until the page is full or until you are no longer collecting signatures. The date in the witness area of the petition has to be after the date of all the signatures on the petition. Be sure to print your name and address (# and street) in the area provided.

7. If an error is made, put a cross-off line through the middle of the error. If correcting a signature, have the person sign on the line. If corrections are made above a line or of any other corrections are made on any petition line, the subscribing witness must initial and date the line where the change was made before signing the witness statement at the bottom of the petition.
